WORK HISTORY
Sept 2005 – May 2007 Honeycomb Worldwide Inc. Toronto, ON
Director of Media Development
- As the first in-house web producer for what became one of Canada’s top growing companies of 2006 (Profit Magazine), I had the opportunity to build their media department from the ground up. My first project was to develop a CMS that allowed different levels of access to log in and change site content or member information, as well, a survey that exported to Excel format. For the project, I also worked with a video crew in the creation of a promotional video for use online and at live events. I then organized existing materials into a file storage system, and helped the company implement back-up procedures. Upon remodeling 2 existing sites sales increased when we improved usability by cleaning up the interface, adding RSS, and restructuring the data displayed. The B2B podcast I assembled was picked up by the UK publishers The Guardian which increased traffic and registrations.
- Use of PHP/MySQL databases to create custom data management and reporting tools, user account handling, multiple levels of security and authentication. All applications programmed with expansion in mind.
- Development of online issue tracking system for tracking work-flow, processes, and connecting International offices through a secure web portal.
- Troubleshooting for network errors, file handling, e-mail accounts, virus/spyware protection and general aid for staff computer problems. Helping remote clients access FTP sites and configure their computers to work with proprietary software. I also oversaw the migration of web servers, and enforced contingency planning for files and e-mail.
- Other media related projects have included print design for signage, brochures, business cards and promotional items ranging from letter-openers to lapel pins.
- In November of 2006 I hired a junior web producer to take on site maintenance, allowing me to focus on content, company strategy and development, and prioritize tasks.
